In order to promote Master Sheng Yen’s vision to
"uplift the character of humanity and build a pure land on
earth", the first Dharma Drum Singapore Office was
established in 1996 at Arcadia Garden.
In 1997, a more spacious location was found at Balmoral
Plaza to attract more people to learn the Buddha Dharma and
understand the vision of Dharma Drum. Besides regular
meditation and chanting sessions, there were also Buddhist
musical instrument classes and book lending services.
To attract and accommodate even more people, the library was
again moved to the city area – the second storey of Pearl’s
Centre in 1998. Activities included meditation, sutra
writing, yoga, study group, etc.
In July 2003, the Dharma Drum Singapore library was moved to
Apollo Centre, where it was spacious
and the traffic was
convenient.
In January 2005, the library was moved to the present site
at the fourth storey of Lam Ann Building. Venerable Kwang
Sheng, the abbot of Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery
was invited to preside at the blessing ceremony.
Today, Dharma Drum Singapore has successfully relocated to a
brand new premises at 100A Duxton
Road.
On 22 December 2007 at 3pm, Venerable Guoqi from Dharma Drum
Mountain was invited to
preside
at the blessing ceremony. Everyone gathered was united in
strength, well-wishes and hopes.
Dharma Drum is a centre of cultivation that integrates both
education and the uplifting of the character of
humanity.
Taking each and every step with steadiness, we strive to
propagate Humanistic Buddhism
through the establishment of
Dharma Drum’s Three-fold Education and using loving care as
our
fundamental principle. |
